Tinu Kundu is an exceptional left-arm spinner playing for Haryana in Ranji Trophy cricket.
The Indian sensation broke into the State side in November 2018, following dominant performances for the Under-23s, in both the Inter-State One Day Competition and CK Nayudu Trophy (2017/18). In the latter, he was Haryana’s chief wicket-taker, including best figures of 4-21 (19), and 5-23 (17) vs Kerala U23s.
It didn’t take long for Kundo to make an impression in the senior side, taking his maiden 10-wicket haul in only his fourth Ranji Trophy match. The left-arm tweaker bagged figures of 6-60 (18.3), and 5-35 (14.3) v Services (Jan 2019), and went on to close out the 2018/19 campaign with 24 wickets at 13.20.
In the following Ranji season (2019/20), Kunda continued to impress, taking two further 5-wicket hauls, namely 5-25 (16) vs Orissa, and 5-35 (11.3) vs Assam, respectively. The Haryana star finished with 22 wickets at 16.81. Surprisingly, though, Kunda only played 1 first-class match during the most recent 2022/23 Ranji season.
Kundu also excelled abroad in 2023 playing for Driffield Town in the Yorkshire Premier League North. He was a stand-out performer with 39 wickets at 17.72 (as at 01/08/23).
The talented left-arm spinner is hoping to return to regular first-class in 2023/24, in a view to qualifying for a UK return in 2024*.
