Ashtead skipper set for Surrey return - 21/09/18

David White-2

Ashtead are delighted to announce the re-signing of their South African star, David White, for their 2019 season.

The former Warriors / South African A batsman starred for Ashtead last summer, topping the Surrey Championship (ECB Premier Division) run charts with 895 runs at 59.67.

He also assumed the captaincy role mid-season, sparking a dramatic improvement, with the side moving from relegation territory to finishing third on the Premier table.

Speaking about the signing, Ashtead Director of Cricket, Matt Homes stated the following:

"We are absolutely delighted to have secured the signature for David to return for the 2019 season. He had a massive impact not only topping the Surrey Champs Premier division run scoring charts but also as a model overseas professional being liked and respected by all at the club. David will again take on the captaincy of the team having led to the the 1st XI to their highest ever Premier finish position of 3rd with his skilful leadership".

Likewise, David was swift to add his thoughts on his re-signing.

"Ashtead is a great club with a rich history. They are currently thriving due to the selfless commitment of good people, over a number of years, who have ensured that Ashtead CC remains a place where people want to play their cricket and spend their time! I am no different and am looking forward to coming back and adding as much value as I can again in 2019".

The South African star will return to Ashtead in April next summer, following a stint in Australia for Dandenong club Buckley Ridges.
