Babbacombe bag T20 record breaker - 10/05/16

Iraq Thomas-2

BABBACOMBE have landed T20 record-breaker Iraq Thomas for their Devon League campaign.

Thomas (23) is an explosive batsman who recently broke Chris Gayle’s record of the fastest T20 hundred. The youngster from Trinidad struck his belligerent ton from only 21 balls.

He ended with a 31-ball 131, including 15 sixes whilst playing for Scarborough/Mason Hall United against Speyside in their Tobago Cricket Association clash at Louis D’Or.

The hard-hitting prospect had previously racked up 36 from 15 balls and 97 from 53, prior to his headline-grabbing, record-breaking hundred.

Thomas, who plays for the prestigious Queen’s Park Cricket Club, home to the likes of West Indies superstars Kieron Pollard, Sunil Narine, Kevon Cooper and Dwayne Bravo, was the recipient of the Atlantic/Kieron Pollard Scholarship Award in 2015.

The Speyside native, campaigned with the Barnes Cricket Club in the Middlesex County and Thames Valley Cricket Leagues. He compiled one century (129 not out) and five half centuries in the 24 limited overs games he played in the league.

The all-rounder, who has enjoyed plenty of media coverage over the past few weeks, has just landed and is set to play for Devon League club Babbacombe for the season.

All eyes will be on the big West Indian as he looks to blast his way into the Devon League record books and guide Babbacombe to yet another promotion.
