Tyron Gamage

BLUNHAM have signed former first-class Sri Lankan Tyron Gamage following their Cambs & Hunts promotion last summer.

Gamage (36) is currently plying his trade in Melbourne following his domestic retirement in 2014.

During his professional career spanning 14 years, dating back to his first-class debut in 2001, Gamage played 147 domestic matches across the three formats. He particularly excelled in red ball cricket taking 261 wickets at 24.14 with nine 5-wicket hauls and best figures of 8-32.

In 2012, he represented the Sri Lankan Cricket Board XI against England. He enjoyed the economical figures of 0-24 from 12 overs, bowling to the likes of Andrew Strauss, Kevin Pietersen, Alastair Cook and Ian Bell. Gamage also held his own with the bat, scoring 14* and 19 in the lower order, including sixes off Steven Finn and Monty Panesar.

In recent times, he has played three seasons in Victoria. In 2012/13 he played for Roxburgh Park Broadmeadows, then Carrum in 2014/15. In the current season he’s playing for Latrobe in the Central Gippsland Cricket Association (Energy Australia Cup).

Gamage will bring his experience to Blunham who last summer were promoted into Division 1 of the Cambs and Hunts League.
