Bovey Tracey have signed Zimbabwean Test batsman Brian Chari for their 2019 Devon League campaign.

Chari (26) is the second Zimbabwean international set to play in the Devon League next summer, following Budleigh Salterton's signing of Tary Musakanda last week.

The incumbent Test opening batsman, Chari will follow in the footsteps of compatriot's Luke Jongwe and Malcolm Lake who have turned out for Bovey Tracey in recent years.

Chari, who has played 17 matches for Zimbabwe, including 10 ODI's and 7 Tests, has scored over 4,500 runs with 8 centuries in domestic cricket.

He recently played in Zimbabwe's historic victory in Bangladesh and scored 53 and 43 in the second Test in Dhaka.

All eyes will be on Chari, as he looks to produce the goods for Bovey next summer, in what will be his first in UK league cricket.

The club were understandbly excited by Chari's signing, with club skipper Toby Codd offering the following statement.

"We're delighted to have Brian sign with us for the coming season. His professional background will give the whole club a boost and he'll help all of our sides on and off the field".
