Profile - Maduranga Zoysa

Bracebridge Heath have bagged experienced Sri Lankan pro Maduranga Zoysa for their upcoming season.

Maduranga Zoysa (34) is an accomplished first-class batsman and high-class professional, who boasts excellent domestic numbers over his 36 first-class games.

He has struck 1,602 runs at 27.62 to include successive centuries against Kalutara Physical Culture Club (127) and Kalutara Town (203) - both scored during the 2016/17 season.

It was this season, the diminutive right-hander made his spectacular return to domestic cricket, following a 4-year absence from the first-class game.

He scored his 2 centuries enroute to a season tally of 545 runs at 45.41. Zoysa then backed-up his barnstorming summer with a further 500 runs at 35.71 in 2017/18.

Zoysa, who also bowls useful leg-spin (11 wickets at 16.09 in 33 List-A matches), has also enjoyed several notable seasons abroad, both in Australia and the UK.

He played two seasons in the Diamond Valley Cricket Association for Research Eltham Collegians (2008/09, 2010/11) before a handful of stellar summers in London (playing for Acton in the Middlesex League) and Birmingham (for Coventry and North Warwickshire).

During his 3 seasons in London, he scored 2,207 runs at 40.87 (17x50s, 4x100s) in his 59 league matches.

Over the past 2 seasons, he starred for Coventry and North Warwickshire hitting 1,973 runs at 40.27 in both league and cup cricket for the club, albeit, bowling opportunities were limited.

He is now an accomplished and proven performer, who comes highly recommended not only as a quality player, but fantastic / enthusiastic coach.

Given his success, both home and abroad, Lincolnshire club Bracebridge Heath have snapped him up for their ECB Premier League campaign this summer.
