ORDSALL BRIDON have signed Dutch international and Canterbury first-class all-rounder Logan van Beek for season 2016.

Logan van Beek (25) is a seam bowling all-rounder who has represented the New Zealand Under-19’s (2010), the Netherlands national side (2014) and has played first-class cricket for Canterbury since his debut in March 2010.

Last month, van Beek struck a magnificent maiden century in Canterbury’s 304-run Plunket Shield win over Otago.

Batting at number 9, the all-rounder strode to the crease with Canterbury reeling at 130-8, then 189-9. He orchestrated an incredible 104-run 10th wicket stand with Will Williams, scoring 83 of the runs. He finished 111 not out from only 125 balls, taking Canterbury to 293.

Bowling first change, van Beek took 2 first-innings wickets (2-13) before taking his second first-class 5-wicket haul, a career-best 6-57 (20.1).

The talented all-rounder has long been regarded as a player with a promising future.

In January 2010, he was a stand-out for New Zealand during their home ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup. He averaged 43 and 20.22 with bat and ball, in a side that featured five current Blackcap stars, namely Corey Anderson, Doug Bracewell, Tom Latham, Ben Wheeler and Jimmy Neesham.

In March 2014, utilising his Dutch Passport, van Beek was one Netherlands star performers during their successful ICC World Twenty20 campaign. His figures of 3-9 including the wickets of Buttler, Bopara and Jordan in his 2-over stint helped Holland to an incredible 45-run win over England.

The dual Passport holder has since impressed in New Zealand domestic cricket and is hoping to push onto bigger and better things in future.

Following his incredible match against Otago in October 2015, the all-rounder generated significant interest from clubs abroad and he has subsequently signed to play for Nottinghamshire ECB Premier League club Ordsall Bridon for the 2016 season.

A high class talent, one who will be one to watch during the Notts Premier campaign next summer.
