Following their promotion to the HCPCL top flight, Buckingham Town have signed Sri Lankan Pro Ranitha Liyanarachchi

Liyanarachchi (24) is an exciting quick bowling all-rounder, who represented Sri Lanka at the 2012 ICC Under-19 World Cup and has since played domestic cricket for Badureliya Sports Club (2013/14), Tamil Union Cricket and Athletic Club (2014/15), Colombo Cricket Club (2016/17) and Saracens Sports Club (2017/18).

Last summer, Liyanarachchi impressed in the UK playing for Cove Cricket Club, in the top tier of the Thames Valley Cricket League. He took 24 wickets at 18, with best bowling figures of 6-18 and belted 305 runs at 27.73 - all scored in very quick time.

Speaking about the signing, Chairman Ade Johnson stated the following:

"Buckingham Town Cricket Club are delighted to have signed the Sri Lankan seam bowling allrounder Ranitha Liyanarachchi for their debut season in the Home Counties Premier Cricket League Division 1 in 2019".
