Burghill bring in kiwi batsman McNaught - 01/03/16

BURGHILL TILLINGTON AND WEOBLEY have signed kiwi batsman Cameron McNaught for their Worcestershire League season.

McNaught (24) is a left-hand opening batsman playing for Freyberg Cricket Club in Manawatu’s Premier One Competition, who is set to replace fellow kiwi Stefan Hook, who spent two successful summers with the Herefordshire club.

McNaught has returned to cricket over the past two seasons, following completion of a Bachelor of Pharmacy at the University of Otago (2010-13).

Whilst McNaught has yet to set the world alight on his return to Freyberg, he has shown glimpses of his talent that saw him represent the province through the age-groups (2000-09).

Now he has completed his studies and is established with work as a fully registered pharmacist, he is able to dedicate more time to his cricket and harbours a provincial return.

During his younger years, he represented Manawatu throughout all age-groups and, in 2008/09 played in the Central Districts selection tournament.

More recently, at senior club level, he has been part of Freyberg’s Premier One Club One-Day Championship (2012/13) and T20 Championship (2014/15), whilst making it to the finals in both One-Day and Two-Day Competitions over the past two seasons.

McNaught comes recommended as not only a strong batsman, but useful medium pacer who is looking to impress whilst abroad in 2016, then return to press for Manawatu Provincial selection in 2016/17.
