Chipstead recruit Beauy Sharks' Sam Chamberlain - 01/03/16

Sam Chamberlain

CHIPSTEAD have snapped up young Australian batting all-rounder Sam Chamberlain for their Surrey Championship campaign.

Chamberlain (20) is a promising opening batsman and useful off-spinner playing for Beaumaris in the top tier of the Victorian Turf Cricket Association (Senior Division).

At the point of writing, he sits just outside the top 10 leading run-scorers in the top flight, in a VTCA competition studded with first-class and former international players.

Recommended by Reigate Priory legends Ian Hewett (former Victorian quick and Beaumaris Captain/Coach) and Neil Saker (former Kent/Surrey seamer), Chamberlain returned to Beaumaris (where he played as a junior) in 2015/16 following two seasons (981 runs at 28.03 and 22 wickets at 11.50) with prestigious Victorian Premier Cricket club St Kilda.

A player with bags of potential, Chamberlain has played a raft of representative cricket through the age-groups, the highlight being the Bayside Breakers in the Victorian Under-18 State Competition.

The batting all-rounder is now set to live and work in Dulwich (Surrey) during the UK 2016 summer and will turn out in Division 1 of the strong Surrey Championship for Chipstead, Coulsdon and Walcountians..
