Congresbury sign Zim star Carl Robinson - 10/05/16

CONGRESBURY have signed promising Zimbabwean all-rounder Carl Robinson for their upcoming season.

Robinson (18) is a schoolboy prodigy who was part of the Zimbabwe squad for the recent ICC Under-19 World Cup. A tall leg-spin bowling all-rounder, Robinson comes highly recommended by Zimbabwe legend Brendan Taylor.

A player of considerable talent, Robinson is a recent graduate of the prestigious Peterhouse Boys’ School in Zimbabwe. He was one of the 1st XI’s shining lights in recent years.

In 2014/15, he took 49 wickets at 13.45 and scored 693 runs at 36.47 for Peterhouse against the best schools in Zimbabwe and a few in South Africa, namely Michaelhouse, Kearnsey, Pietermaritzurg, Hilton and St. Andrews.

Incredibly, during this season Robinson went wicket-less in only 2 of his 23 matches. The trend has continued in the 2015/16 season, culminating with provincial and national age-group selection.

Robinson is now set to play the English summer for Congresbury in the Bristol and District Cricket Association before he resumes his academic education in Dublin (Ireland) at Griffith College in September 2016.

Robinson is in the process of obtaining an Irish Passport and aspires to play for Ireland in future. However, first and foremost, he is looking to impress for Congresbury during the summer ahead.
