Counties' Vodnala signs for March Town - 31/03/15

Ash VodnalaMARCH TOWN have signed promising kiwi all-rounder Ash Vodnala ahead of their 2015 season.

Vodnala (22) is a genuine all-rounder on the Northern Knights radar having impressed in recent years at both club and representative level.

The top-order batsman and right-arm off-spinner has starred for Pukekohe Metro in Premier cricket with 1,741 runs at 35.53 and 75 wickets at 18.45 since the 2011/12 season.

His tally includes a bumper 2012/13 season where his exploits (737 runs at 61.42 and 26 wickets at 14.54) were rewarded with the Counties Manukau “Premier Points” winner, alongside club accolades including “Player of the Season”, “Best All-Rounder”, “Best Batting Average”, “Highest Batting Aggregate”, “Best Under-21 Batsman” and “Highest Representative Achievement”.

The following season (2013/14), he finished runner-up on the points prize, plus dominated Pukekohe’s awards with a further 500 runs at 29.41 and 20 wickets at 23.25.

This summer, he has broken into the Northern Districts A side and is a fringe squad member of the Northern Knights first-class side.

Vodnala also continues to excel for Counties-Manukau, in what effectively acts as the feeder into State cricket. He was instrumental in their record-breaking victory in their most recent match against the star-studded Northland side, scoring an undefeated century (100*) as Counties-Manukau chased down 408, finishing 412-6.

Fresh from his recent success, the kiwi all-rounder has signed to play in the top tier of the Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire League (Tucker Gardner Division 1) for March Town this summer.
