CricX v Liverpool Comp - 07/07/18

Tatenda Taibu

A massive congrats to our CricX side that produced a stunning 111-run victory over the Liverpool Comp on Thursday.

It was a cracking day, in-front of a bumper crowd. With the sun out and beers flowing, our lads produced the goods, ably supported by our guest star, none other than the legend that is Tatenda Taibu.

Batting first, CricX racked up 297-8 in their 45 overs, with Jason Underwood (27 from 29 balls), skipper Geshan Wimaladharma (67 from 67) and Saurabh Bandekar (62 from 38) setting the stage for the former Zimbabwean master-blaster.

Coming in at number 9, having not picked up a bat in 2 years, the legend rolled back the years with an incredible 30-ball 59 not out.

In reply, after picking up 3 wickets in the first innings, Cumberland all-rounder Chris Brownlow starred for the Liverpool Comp, hitting a 66-ball 58, but it was the spin twins of Highfield pro Darshan Misal (3-53) and Garstang amateur Travis Pieters (5-46) that took CricX to victory, bowling the opposition out for 186.

A huge thanks to Icon Sports UK for the great looking gear and to Formby Cricket Club for hosting what was a phenomenal event. We look forward to a repeat fixture next summer.

For now though, bring on our next fixture on the calendar against Dave Alleyne’s Future Stars Academy at Uxbridge CC in London on Wednesday 25th July.
