East Grinstead pounce on Penrith star Cummins - 18/02/16

Tim Cummins

EAST GRINSTEAD have signed high-class wicket-keeper batsman Tim Cummins for their Sussex League campaign.

Cummins (25) is current vice-captain of Sydney Grade Club Penrith and is into his sixth straight season in first grade, notching up well over 100 games in Sydney’s top flight club competition.

Cummins has become a reliable performer for Penrith in recent years churning out 267 runs at 24.27 (2013/14) and 314 runs at 28.55 (2014/15) over the past two seasons.

He has enjoyed a barnstorming 2015/16 season to date hitting 286 runs at 31.78 including a first grade best of 93* against Randwick Petersham.

He currently bats at number 5 for Penrith and is a free flowing, often explosive batsman. Whilst a gifted gloveman, he can also bowl some handy off-spin and is happy to hit the bowling crease when required.

Cummins, who also benefits from high level coaching qualifications, is now returning to the UK in 2016 after an impressive maiden stint in Wales back in 2012.

He struck 4 centuries, including a highest score of 185* to finish second on the North Wales Cricket League (Division 1) run charts with 897 runs at 89.70, all with a strike rate over 100.

Cummins will join East Grinstead who, last summer, narrowly missed out on becoming champions of the Susex Premier Cricket League's top flight.
