Dwaine blasts double ton for table topping Corsham - 04/06/15

Dwaine FieldingCORSHAM'S new South African recruit struck a brilliant double century to sink Taunton Deane on Saturday.

Dwaine Fielding's (26) explosive innings in only his second match for the club formed part of a spectacular day's cricket at The Convent Field where 867 runs were scored.

In what was a top of the table fixture against Taunton Deane in the West of England Premier League’s top flight (Premier One), Fielding blasted a magnificent 221 from 128 balls – an innings that included 28 fours and 9 sixes.

His exploits helped Corsham rack up an incredible 463 in their 50 overs. Taunton Deane though, put up an incredible fight, topping the 400 mark before being dismissed in the 46th over, 59-runs shy for 404.

Fielding though, was the man of the moment courtesy of his magnificent double century which set-up the Corsham victory. Coming off the back of a brilliant 78, which helped Corsham chase down Bath’s 292 on his league debut the week prior, he set WEPL statisticians running for the record books with his swashbuckling double. His second century coming off 34 balls – only 14 balls between his 150 to 200.

The South African Rural batsman has enjoyed quite a remarkable start to his Corsham campaign and, unsurprisingly the South African now sits amongst the leading run scorers in the WEPL – only 3 runs behind team-mate and Wiltshire skipper Michael Coles on the Premier One charts. The CricX star is certainly one player to keep tabs on moving forward this summer.
