Free State star signs with Linden Park - 10/12/14

Lyle HeilbronFREE STATE Under-19 star Lyle Heilbron has signed to play as Linden Park's 2nd XI overseas player in 2015.

Heilbron (18) is an off-spin bowling all-rounder who has represented the North West Province and Free State throughout the age-groups.

He also plays Premier League cricket in Bloemfontein for CBC alongside Knights player Michael Erlank.

Heilbron has represented Free State in the age-group national cricket weeks over the past three years with tremendous success. For the Under-15s in 2011, he took 8 wickets at 13.62 then backed up with 6 wickets at 25.83 the following year for the Under-17s.

Last year, during his first tournament with the Under-19s (alongside fellow CricX clients AJ van Wyk and Sachintha Galghenage) he topped the Free State wicket charts, despite only bowling 24 overs, taking 6 wickets at 14.33.

Heilbron has also excelled for St Andrew’s School over 94 games 1st XI games with 107 wickets, 2,563 runs at 35.1 and best performances of 6-54 and 126*.

For CBC, he has played 20 games, predominantly in the top flight and has 43 wickets and 985 runs at 49.2 to evidence his all-round ability.

Heilbron is a promising cricketer, who is hoping for a big Coke Week to push for South African Under-19 honours. He has already featured in South African Under-17 trials and is eager to push towards professional cricket in future.

He will join fellow CRICX clients and countrymen Craig Park and Matthew Smit at Linden Park and will be eager to make a big impression during his maiden stint abroad. Higher Cricket Ground
