HARLOW TOWN have signed one of Jamaica's most promising quicks Christopher Powell ahead of their Essex League campaign.

Powell (21) is an exciting Jamaican quick who’s made a huge impression on the Windies domestic scene since his introduction in January 2015.

The tall, lanky and genuine express bowler has played 8 List-A matches for the Combined Campuses and Colleges.

He has excelled, taking 13 wickets at 15.69 including best figures of 5-22 (7), in only his second outing against Trinidad and Tobago. His wickets included skipper Ryad Emrit and the Bravo brothers in successive balls (Dwayne LBW first ball).

On debut, it was his performance with the bat that took center-stage. Following figures of 1-40 (9), Powell strode to the crease with the score 112/8 in pursuit of Guyana’s 171. His 29-ball 27 not out help guide CCC home by 1-wicket.

Powell has continued to shine in the Nagico Super 50 (List-A) competition for CCC and looks set for a bright future in the game.

The Jamaican speedster initially shot to prominence during two matches against the touring New Zealand side in 2014. Playing for a Jamaican Select XI, he took 5 top-order wickets across the two matches, including Hamish Rutherford and Tom Latham in both innings in the second 3-dayer (2-21 and 2-29).

Powell is an exciting talent who seems destined for higher honours. To continue his progression in the game, he has recently signed to play a seasons league cricket in England.

He will turn out for Essex League side Harlow Town and will be eager to make a huge impression in what will be his maiden UK stint in 2016..
