HBS have signed ini-form Australian batsman Corey Rutgers for their 2016 campaign.

Rutgers (26) has played over 100 first grade matches in the Western Australian Suburban Turf Cricket Association representing Ocean Ridge (2,488 runs at 40.08) and more recently Tuart Hill (610 runs at 46.92 in 2012/13).

His success at club level has culminated with selection for West Pilbara in Country Week and also the Australian County XI.

He boasts a raft of achievements, most notably winning Minor Premierships and captaining both clubs and personally featuring in the top five run scorers in the WASTCA for the last four years.

He has also won the Under-23s “Player of the Year” over the past two, whilst also excelling during several WA Regional Tournaments.

Rutgers has also starred abroad, during three previous stints. In 2012, he struck 463 runs at 27.24 for Hyde (Cheshire County League) whilst also appearing live on Sky Sports during the National T20 Competition.

He returned to Northern shores in 2014, this time for West of England Premier League (Bristol and NS Division) club Congresbury hitting 546 runs at 34.75 alongside 11 wickets at 19 with the ball.

Courtesy of his exploits in the WEPL in 2014, Congresbury re-signed the Australian batsman for a second stint in 2015.

He repaid in-kind, scoring an incredible 1,008 runs at 84 to finish third on the WEPL run charts. His tally included 6 centuries from his 16 innings, including 3 on the bounce (154*, 116, 107).

Due to his recent form, Rutgers has been snapped up by Dutch club HBS for their 2016 season.
