Irchester snap up Fairfield-Liverpool's John Starkey - 05/03/15

John StarkeyNORTHAMPTONSHIRE League club Irchester have signed Sydney Grade batsman John Starkey for the 2015 season.

Starkey (21) is a young batsman playing for the star-studded Sydney Grade club Fairfield-Liverpool – a club that plays home to Australian and NSW players Doug Bollinger, Gurinder Sandhu, Ben Rohrer and the Doran brothers (Luke and Jake).

Starkey has played predominantly in the third-grade, albeit has featured in the second grade, AW Green and Poidevin-Gray Shield sides. He is approaching 100 matches for Fairfield-Liverpool and averages 16.34 with the bat with 5 fifties and highest score of 91.

Prior to his move to Grade cricket in 2009/10, he played for Auburn Cricket Club in the Sydney Shires Competition, alongside 1st XI cricket for Hills Sports High School. He played age-group representative cricket for Parramatta and was part of their development squad.

Starkey toured England last year as part of an Australian touring side and has recently signed to play in division three of the Northants League for Irchester this coming summer.
