OLD SOUTHENDIAN & SOUTHCHURCH sign Aussie brothers Evan and Davie Johnson following promotion into Essex League's Division 2.

Evan Johnson (29) is a genuine all-rounder who has played 1st XI cricket in Victoria’s Ringwood and District Cricket Association since the age of 14. 

From 2008 to 2010, he skippered Warranwood and his three Premierships came in 2010/11, 2011/12 and 2013/14, in which he skippered the latter.

Most recently Evan took on the role of head coach at Meraloma Cricket Club in Canada for season 2015. During that season, he topped the club wicket charts and finished inside the top 10 leading wicket-takers in the strong Elite Division.

Evan's younger brother Davie (27) is a highly decorated cricketer in his own right and has been one of the stand-out players in Victoria’s Ringwood District Cricket Association.

He has scored over 2,600 runs averaging neigh on 30 with 2 centuries and has also taken over 170 wickets averaging a tick under 13.

In 2014/15, he hit the headlines in a match against Templeton by top scoring with 66 and claiming all 10 wickets. He picked up 10-20 from 12.5 overs including 6 bowled and 2 LBW.

Davie topped the RDCA top flight wicket-charts last season taking 47 wickets at 8.23 in addition to 459 runs at 35.31, following his second placed finish in 2013/14 (37 wickets at 9.19 alongside 530 runs at 40.77).

The accomplished Aussie brothers will now both head to the UK to play for promoted Essex League side Old Southendians and Southchurch.
