Knights Pienaar joins Newman at the Park - 31/10/15

Koot Pienaar

LINDEN PARK'S winter recruitment drive continues with the signing of prodigeous talent Koot Pienaar.

Pienaar (19) is a promising batsman and useful off-spinner who has represented Free State through the age-groups. In recent times, he has also featured for the South African Schools and the Knights Franchise at Cubs and Academy level.

In December 2014, Pienaar topped the Khaya Majola Cricket Week run charts scoring 255 runs at 51 and narrowly missed selection for the South African Under-19's squad.

A product of the prestigeous Saint Andrews School, Pienaar spent last summer plying his trade in the West of England Premier League (Somerset Division) for North Petherton scoring 613 runs at 36.06 alongside 17 wickets at 17.65.

Upon his return to SA, his run spree has continued, hitting 202 runs at 40.4 including scores of 79, 70 and 44 for the Knights Academy.

Pienaar is treading the right path towards first-class honours, something the young gun seems destined for, given recent performances.

He will return to Northern shores in 2016 to play for Linden Park in Division 1 of the Kent League alongside former Surrey and Middlesex batsman Scott Newman, who is another of Park's recent and notable winter signings.
