Kuggeleijn signs for Great Witchingham - 23/03/15

Thomas KuggeleijnGREAT WITCHINGHAM have signed promising kiwi all-rounder Thomas Kuggeleijn for the upcoming season.

Kuggeleijn (18) is a hugely talented all-rounder who comes highly recommended by former Blackcaps quick Michael Mason who states “Thomas has the ability and attitude to play cricket at the highest level and is one of the best young prospects from a region that has produced International Players and numerous First Class players”.

A left-hand top-order batsman and brisk medium-pacer, Kuggeleijn has played a raft of age-group representative cricket for Hawkes Bay (Under-12s, 13s), Manawatu (Under-14s, 15, 17s) and Central Districts (Under-17s).

He captained his province (Manawatu) at Under-17 level in 2013/14 and was awarded “Player of the Year”. He was also named Dannevirke High School’s “Most Valuable Player” last summer.

He was a key member of his School’s 1st XI for 5-years (2010-14) and skippered them in his final season. Kuggeleijn now plays senior club cricket in the Manawatu for Freyberg and has acquitted himself with distinction, culminating with Manawatu Senior Men’s selection.

He has represented Manawatu in several Hawke Cup defences (his province are the current holders of the national minor association trophy).

Kuggeleijn will join the East Anglian Premier League club in April and is eager to impress during his maiden stint abroad.
