Maldon snap up Macmillan - 28/01/15

Robb MacmillanMALDON have signed Tasmanian first grade all-rounder Robb Macmillan ahead of their 2015 season.

Macmillan (23) is a talented off-spin bowling all-rounder who has spent the past six years playing first grade cricket in the Tasmanian Cricket Association (TCA) for South Hobart Sandy Bay.

He plays in a side that regularly features State and International players including George Bailey, Travis Birt, Xavier Doherty and Alex Doolan.

Prior to the start of the current 2014/15 season, MacMillan had played 88 first-grade matches. In recent years, he's become the club's front-liner spinner and has taken 116 wickets at 26.43, including recent seasons of 24 wickets at 19.79 (2011/12) and 32 wickets at 20.28 (2013/14).

Macmillan has also filled many roles in the batting line-up, where he averages in the mid-teens, albeit is certainly a better batsman than his numbers suggest.

A promising cricketer, Macmillan represented Tasmania at both the Under-13 and Under-19 State Carnivals. He has been a regular member of the South Tasmania age-groups throughout.

The all-rounder spent his first season abroad in 2014 plying his trade in the Championship Division of the Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League. Playing for Thongsbridge, he scored 581 runs at 30.58 and was one of the division's leading wicket-takers with 48 poles at 16.71.

Macmillan has signed with Maldon for the 2015 season and looks forward to making a big impact in the Two Counties Cricket Championship.
