Middleton return for magnificent Mahesh - 03/09/18

Mahesh Rawat

Middleton are delighted to announce the re-signing of prolific pro Mahesh Rawat after retaining their Sussex Premier status.

The club peeled off a huge, 166-run victory over bottom-placed Ifield on Saturday, to finish 8th in the 10-team table, but 94-points clear of relegation.

Indian pro, Mahesh Rawat, has been exceptional for the club over the season. Needing 4 runs in the final game to reach the magical 1,000 mark in the Sussex Premier, Rawat's chances looked bleak with Middleton's opening batsman Sean Heather (127) and Jack Dawling (102) sharing opening stand of 252. However, he finally got his chance and clubbed a quick-fire 13 not out from number 3 to reach the milestone.

Rawat stuck 1,009 runs at a Bradman-esq average of 100.90, to include 6 fifties and 4 centuries. Such was his dominance, he was only dismissed in 10 of his 18 innings.

The club had no hesitation in re-signing the Railways skipper for the 2019 season.
