Mold recruit Caxton Khosa's Heinrich Botes - 09/03/15

Heinrich Botes 2MOLD have signed promising South African batsman Heinrich Botes for their North Wales League campaign.

Botes (19) will replace his Caxton Khosa club-mate JP van Aswegen, who spent two hugely successful season for club side Mold.

Last summer, van Aswegen broke the North Wales Premier League record for the highest individual score blasting a 156-ball 248 en-route to 975 runs at 54.16 and 28 wickets at 24.75.

Botes will therefore have some big boots to fill, but the talented batsman is eagerly looking forward to the challenge of taking Mold back up to the Premier following relegation last summer.

A product of Hoërskool Florida, with whom he holds the highest individual score (183 from 131 balls), Botes has represented Central West Rand through the age-groups.

He made his Premier debut aged 17 for Caxton Khosa and racked up 1,010 runs at 38.84 with three hundreds in his maiden season (2012/13).

He followed up with a further 980 runs at 49 for the club in 2013/14 including a brilliant 207 whilst playing a one-off game for the 3rd XI against Old Edwardians.

In all formats of cricket since the start of 2013, Botes has churned out 2,733 runs at 39.04 including four hundreds and his breath-taking double.

He has been named Caxton Khosa’s “Young Cricketer of the Year” over the past two seasons, sharing the award in 2013/14 with South African Under-19s star Marques Ackerman.

Botes has also represented the South African Under-16s (2012) and Under-18s (2013) in Indoor cricket.

Botes is a young cricketer, eager to push towards professional cricket and is hoping his season abroad will help him acheive higher honours in future.
