Morpeth move for AUCC's Flett - 07/04/16

Sam Flett

MORPETH take on kiwi keeper Sam Flett for their 2016 campaign in the Northumberland & Tyneside League.

Flett (23) burst onto the Auckland Premier Cricket scene with a match-winning 40 not out to guide Auckland University to first innings points against Birkenhead in 2011-12.

Flett's prowess with the willow has been seen across all formats, most notably in the T20 format when he scored a better than a run-a-ball undefeated 48 to power AUCC home against Ellerslie in 2013/14 and into the Quarter Finals.

The St Kentigern College old boy has produced many a cameo, not to mention some crucial match-winning innings, in the lower middle order for Uni, despite the fact that batting opportunities have been few and far between.

A personal best of 62 against a very competitive Cornwall team in 2013/14 ensured Uni had a sizeable first innings lead and proves that Flett can adapt his game to any situation. He scored a total of 349 runs at 29.08 that season, then backed up with another 354 runs at 27.23 in 2014/15 for Uni.

Flett spent the 2015 UK season plying his trade in the Devon Cricket League. Playing for Chelston, he finished amongst the leading run-scorers in Division 4 West hitting 545 runs at 49.55 including a brilliant 111 against Stokeinteignhead.

Flett will spend his second UK stint with Northumberland & Tyneside's Division 2 side Morpeth this summer.
