Prodigious Pye heading to Wembley - 31/03/16

Ben Pye

WEMBLEY have signed talented South Australian batsman Ben Pye for their Middlesex County League campaign.

The North London based club have snapped up Pye, following the withdrawal of fellow South Australian John Dalton through SACA commitments.

Pye is a young, emerging talent coming through the Tea Tree Gully District ranks in South Australia. The promising batsman made his senior grade debut for TTGDCC in 2013/14 whilst only 15 years of age. He has since played 28 grade matches, scoring 525 runs, including 350 runs at 25 to take out the second grade batting award in the 2015/16 season.

Pye has long been regarded as a prolific talent. In 2013/14 he topped the SACA Under-16s aggregates belting 549 runs at 91.50 including one hundred (113*) and two 90s.

In the same season he broke the Para Hills Cricket Club record by hitting 1,013 runs at 92.09 in only 14 matches. His tally including 5 hundreds and 6 fifties. He was the first Para Hills player to hit over 1,000 runs in a season.

He moved to TTGCC senior cricket in 2013/14 and has since impressed and is knocking on the door for first grade inclusion, in a side that includes the likes of Redbacks players Travis Head, Jake Haberfield, Tim Davey and Nick Winter.

He is a player that comes highly recommended as a player for the future and is now eager to impress during his maiden stint abroad in 2016.
