CRICX star Obus Pienaar has started his kiwi campaign with a bang culminating with Wellington A selection.

Since joining Wellington club Taita, the 26-year-old has struck 397 runs at 132.33, with a strike-rate  over 100.

He has two hundreds, a 70 not out and currently tops the Ewen Chatfield Trophy run charts by 100 runs.

The former South Africa Under-19 and Knights all-rounder, headed down under following a record-breaking season in England.

Playing for Sleaford, Pienaar hit an incredible 11 centuries amongst 1,507 runs at 107.64 to break the Lincolnshire Cricket Board Premier League runs record.

Seeking pastures new, Pienaar is looking to follow in the footsteps of compatriots Elliot and Wagner, who have successfully moved to New Zealand gained Blackcaps honours.

For now though, his initial target is to break into the Firebirds set-up this summer and given his form to date, he’s treading the right path.
