Shepley snap up Sydney Grade's Daniel Anderson - 03/02/16

Daniel Anderson

SHEPLEY have signed promising Sydney Grade batsman Daniel Anderson ahead of their Drakes Huddersfield League campaign.

Anderson (20) is quite the batting prospect who, courtesy of his second grade 150* this summer, has recently broken back into first grade following three matches in the top flight in 2014/15.

Playing in the strong Sydney Grade Competition for the star-studded Northern District Cricket Club, Anderson has worked his way through the NDCC grades, in a club that features the likes of Brad Haddin (Australia), Daniel Hughes (NSW/Sydney Sixers), Chris Green (Sydney Thunder), Harry Conway (NSW) and Josh Poysden (Warwickshire).

Starting in the AW Green Shield (U16s) back in 2009/10, he has since played predominantly second grade and Poidevin-Gray Shield matches – skippering the latter in the current 2015/16 season.

At the point of writing, Anderson has played 87 matches for NDCC, scored 1,940 runs, all with an average of 26.94. He has scored three centuries, including his magnificent 209-ball 150* against Manley in November 2015.

This summer, across all forms of cricket for NDCC (firsts, seconds and PGs), Anderson has scored 476 runs at 47.60 and he’s now looking to cement his spot in first grade.

The talented batsman, who also boasts CA level 2 (UKCC 3 equivalent) coaching qualifications and a raft of coaching experience, has recently signed to play abroad in 2016 for his development.

He'll join Drakes Huddersfield League club Shepley for their Premiership campaign in 2016. .
