Shepshed Town swoop for Navi Deol - 28/04/15

Navpreet SinghSHEPSHED TOWN have signed Indian-born kiwi batsman Navi Deol for their 2015 season.

Doel (20) is a promising batsman playing Premier Men’s cricket in Auckland under the tutelage of former Aces quick and Eden Roskill team-mate Azhar Abbas.

A prodigious talent, before immigrating to New Zealand, Doel was the youngest player to represent the Punjab schools during the Under-15 and 17 national tournaments. He represented the District during the Inter-District competition in 2010 then headed down under and joined Eden Roskill Cricket Club.

In 2013/14, Doel played Premier Reserves (2nd XI) and was the club’s leading run-scorer averaging 54.12. This summer, he was elevated to the top flight in the Auckland Premier Men’s Grade Competition hitting 317 runs at 22.64 with three half-centuries in the two-day format.

Doel is a promising cricketer who, after scoring upwards of 1,100 runs over the past two years, is now eager to showcase his talent for Shepshed Town in the Leicestershire and Rutland League this summer.
