Sidmouth sign WACA star Jake Fawcett - 28/05/15

Jake FawcettSIDMOUTH have snapped up former Western Australian batsman Jake Fawcett for the rest of the season.

The signing comes after a loss to Paignton last weekend and now sit mid-table, having won five of the last seven Devon League Premierships, including last season.

The Fortfield club are set to play Premier high flyer's Torquay this weekend who are undefeated from their opening four matches.

Fawcett though, should provide Sidmouth with additional quality, having played a couple of List-A matches for WA previously.

The left-hand batsman has been one of the most prolific batsman in the WACA Grade Competition since his debut in 2006/07. He has 4,569 first-grade runs, with 13 centuries (4 in 2011/12) boasting an average of 38.72.

Fawcett has also developed into a genuine all-rounder, with his off-spinners accounting for 67 victims, including a best of 5-24 en-route to a season haul of 19 wickets at 29.89 in 2008/09.

All eyes will be on the clash of the round in the Devon League this weekend, with three CricX stars on show, namely Fawcett and Torquay pair Sachintha Galhenage and last week's centurian Mitchell Pugh.
