Chamara Kapugedera

Sleaford have signed 153 international match veteran Chamara Kapugedera for their 2019 Lincolnshire League season.

Kapugedera (31) is an explosive batsman and brisk medium pacer with 153 matches for Sri Lanka under his belt. Between his ODI debut in January 2006 and his last outing in October 2017, the batting all-rounder racked up 2,745 runs at 22.88 with 13 half centuries.

At domestic level, Kapugedera has excelled – over 10,000 runs across the three formats with 13 centuries and 59 fifties. He boasts a career-best of 161* scored in a List A match and has a career T20 strike rate of 130.

Whilst known for his destructive ability with the bat, he is also a canny seamer, who has been a regular in domestic cricket and featured with the ball in ODI cricket.

Outside Sri Lanka, Kapugedera has been picked up by various Franchises in both the IPL (Chennai Super Kings) and BPL (Rangpur Riders, Duronto Rajshahi).

The Sri Lankan all-rounder is now set to play abroad once again next summer, having just signed with English league club Sleaford, for their Lincolnshire ECB Premier League campaign in 2019.

Speaking about the signing, Trustee Chris Travers stated:

"I am delighted that Sleaford Cricket Club has been able to sign a player with the international reputation of Chamara Kapugedera and I have no doubt that he will have a significant influence on our club from both a playing and coaching perspective. As ever, I am grateful for the help and guidance CricX have provided".
