The Roebucks sign Jamaican star Wayne Morgan - 29/01/16

THE ROEBUCKS have pulled off a coup with the signing of Jamaican all-rounder Wayne Morgan.

Morgan (30) is an explosive batting all-rounder who represented Jamaica Under-19s in 2004 and has since forged an impressive career in Premier cricket on the Island.

Morgan has, most recently (2013) played in the Caribbean T20 for Combined Campuses and Colleges, whilst also featuring against the touring Zimbabweans for the University of West Indies Vice-Chancellor’s XI.

However, it’s been his exploits abroad that have caught the limelight courtesy of his two-season stint with Kent Premier outfit Bromley.

Over his 30 league matches in 2012-13, Morgan took 62 wickets at 17.40 with three 5-wicket hauls, but it was his batting that hit the headlines.

He struck 6 league centuries, 1,267 runs all with an average of 50.68. He struck 660 runs at 66 in 2012, followed by 607 runs at 40.47 in 2013, including 3 centuries in each year. His runs came at quite a rate including a quick-fire 119* from 68 balls – one of several incredibly destructive centuries.

Morgan decided not to return to Northern shores in 2014, but fresh from wintering in Jamaica, the all-rounder made a return to the Kent League, this time for Old Wilsonians in 2015.

He continued to excel and his exploits (615 runs at 38.44 and 23 wickets at 22.83) helped OW's to promotion.

Seeking a Kent return, Morgan has recently signed with Kent Regional League side The Roebucks who are hoping their big West Indian will push them towards promotion to the Kent League in 2016.
