VALLEY END have signed 1st Grade Aussie Hayden McLean for their 2016 Surrey Championship Division 1 campaign.

McLean (20) has recently broken into first grade in the strong Sydney Grade Competition where, this summer, he has played 16 matches to include 3 first grade, 8 second grade and 5 Poidevin Gray Shield (U21) games. He also has 18 wickets at 25.11 across the grades.

Prior to his move to University, McLean played 108 matches across the lower grades for Randy Petes, taking 156 wickets at 19.03 and scored 608 runs at 13.51. He played two full seasons in second grade for the club taking 26 wickets at 26.77 (2013/14) and 25 wickets at 21.76 (2014/15).

Following his final season for Randy Petes, he was named the “best and fairest” for the club’s PG’s team, before heading to England to represent Australia at the Red Bull Campus Cricket World University Games.

McLean will now spend his 2016 summer in the UK playing for Surrey Championship side Valley End who hope to avenge their 2015 relegation from the League's top tier.
