BJ BarnettVRA Amsterdam have recruited Wellington Firebirds batting all-rounder BJ Barnett for their Topklasse campaign.

Barnett (25) is an opening batsman and off-spinner playing for the Wellington Firebirds across all formats, courtesy of his barnstorming calendar year in 2014.

He hit the headlines early in the 2014 New Year courtesy of his explosive run-scoring exploits in New Zealand’s National Provincial A Tournament.

He has since played 4 first-class and 2 List-A matches, and looks set for a long career with the Firebirds.

Barnett has signed to play in the Netherlands top flight competition, the Topklasse for VRA Amsterdam this summer. He has previously played abroad, albeit a short 6 match stint back in 2011 for Northern Cricket Union side Saintfield, before returning home through injury.
