Wellington secure Boland gloveman Wian Gouws - 12/02/15

Wian GouwsWEST OF ENGLAND PREMIER LEAGUE club Wellington have signed exciting South African keeper/bat Wian Gouws for the upcoming season.

Gouws (18) is an exciting prospect coming through the Boland ranks in South Africa. The former captain of the prestigious Paarl Boys’ High School 1st XI, Gouws opens the batting and keeps wicket.

The gloveman played 51 matches for the Paarl Boys' 1st XI - has 108 dismissals and, in 2014 averaged 36 during 22 games with the bat. He has previously received numerous accolades from PBHS, including “best junior batsman” in both 2010 and 2011.

A player recommended by Titans/Northerns’ batsman Francois le Clus, Gouws has represented Boland at Under-17 and 18 level and was part of the CSA Under-17 High Performance camp in June 2013.

Gouws is hoping his first league cricket stint abroad in 2015 will push his claims for higher representative honours in future.
