Wests' Wivell signs for Hartley Wintney - 19/01/15

Aaron WivellHARTLEY WINTNEY have signed Australian batsman Aaron Wivell as their overseas player in 2015.

Wivell (24) is a batting all-rounder who has played 161 matches in the Newcastle District Cricket Association.

He is enjoying a barnstorming season to date, currently topping the NDCA 1st Grade run charts with 425 runs at 35.42.

He made his 1st Grade debut as a 16-year-old and has played for Wallsend (2005/06-11/12) and more recently Wests (2012/13-present). He boasts 3,149 runs averaging 23.15 and has taken 47 wickets at 27.60 with his medium pace.

Wivell has enjoyed plenty of highlights during his career to date. He represented the Newcastle through the age-groups (under 10s-21s) and into the Senior Men’s side and was a New South Wales Combined High School’s 2nd XI representative (2008).

He won the Wallsend 1st Grade batting (486 runs at 30.38 including a highest score of 106) and “Players’ Player” awards in 2010/11. He also captained Wests 1st Grade last summer (2013/14).

Wivell is keen to make a big impression in the Southern Premier League for Hartley Wintney in 2015.
