Witham recruit West Torrens stalwart - 11/01/16

Adrian Chad

WITHAM have secured the services of long-standing West Torrens all-rounder Adrian Chad for season 2016.

Chad (28) has been a key fixture in the “Eagles” first grade side since his debut in 2010/11, following a move to Adelaide from Newcastle in Northern New South Wales.

Chad is approaching 100 matches for the Eagles, the majority in first grade alongside some notable first-class players including Kelvin Smith, Callum Ferguson, Dan Cullen, Peter George, Adam Crosthwaite, Trent Kelly and Aiden Blizzard.

During his 6 seasons, Chad has scored well over 2,000 runs averaging 22 (1x100) alongside 70 wickets at 19 (3x5wkts) with his medium pace.

He has been a canny and often under-utilised bowler with excellent first grade numbers, averaging 12.71 and 14.13 in seasons 2013/14 and 2014/15 respectively.

Chad moved to South Australia in 2010/11 following five seasons and 66 matches in the Newcastle and District competition for Toronto Workers (2005/06-2009/10). He scored 1,342 runs at 23.96 and took 97 wickets at 24.47, again predominantly in first grade.

Chad also enjoyed a success season abroad in 2008 playing for Dundee HSFP in Scotland scoring 337 runs at 33.7 in addition to 15 wickets at 14.60.

Having not ventured back to the UK since, Chad had decided to return in 2016, this time to play in England for Two Counties Championship side Witham.

A consistent and reliable performer, Chad will be hoping to make a big impression for the Essex-based club this summer..
