Zimbabwean ODI returns to Wellington - 03/01/15

Trevor GarweWELLINGTON have re-signed former Zimbabwean ODI player Trevor Garwe for the upcoming summer.

Garwe (28) enjoyed a prolific 2014 season with the Birmingham League side taking 28 wickets at 14.39 including best bowling figures of 6-30. He also scored a half-century (62) and averaged 18.25 with the bat with his limited opportunities.

A pace bowling all-rounder, Garwe represented the Zimbabwe A side for several years before making his national debut in October 2009. Despite productive returns at domestic level, his ODI outing against Kenya has proved to date, to be a solitary one.

A bowler with genuine pace, Garwe has taken 151 wickets at first-class level, averaging 30.03 with three 5-wicket hauls.

He has become a consistent performer at domestic level, with the 2009/10 season being his most prolific, taking 33 wickets at 25.69 and also hitting his maiden century (117) amongst 472 runs at 33.71.

Garwe is hoping to guide Welllington to promotion in 2015 having finished just shy in third position in Division One last summer.
