Roshan Jayatissa (29) is one of the most consistent spinners in Sri Lankan domestic cricket – with one of the best domestic records to match. The off-spinner has taken 189 wickets at 23.76 since his first-class debut in October 2009. His tally includes 10 five wicket bags and 2 ten wicket hauls. He has also excelled in white ball cricket, averaging an incredible 18.86 and 20.11 in List-A and Twenty20 respectively.

Jayatissa has spent the past two seasons playing for Saracens Sports Club, alongside a host of fellow CricX stars, including the likes of Nipun Karunanayake, Ranitha Liyanarachchi,  Gamindu Kanishka, Leo Fransisco, Ashen Bandara, Mohamed Dilshad, Nivindu Nirmal and Minhaj Jaleel.

Whilst he didn't set the world alight this summer, taking only 9 wickets, he enjoyed a hugely successful debut season for Saracens in 2017/18 taking 35 wickets at 27.54, backing up his 2016/17 season for Galle (35 wickets at 30.88). His move to Galle in 2016/17 following his 6-season stint with the Sri Lanka Army Sports Club (110 wickets at 17.48 during this period).

Jayatissa is widely recognised as one of Sri Lanka’s best, non-international, off-spinners. However, he’s no one trick pony, as he is a more than useful operator with bat in hand, boasting 3 half-centuries and highest score of 73 to his name in first-class cricket.

The experienced campaigner is a high-class performer, who has also showcased his all-round skills in UK league cricket over the past two seasons. Playing in Division 1 of the Durham Cricket League for Tudhoe, Jayatissa has produced impressive numbers and several Cup titles, for the club. In 2017-18, he has scored 2,457 runs at 42.36 (4x100s, 19x50s) and taken 131 wickets at 13.11 (4x5w) in league/cup cricket.

He has been an absolute stand-out in the North East and is now set to embark on his third stint, this time over the border in Scotland for WDCU club Kelburne. Jayatissa is only a fine cricketer, but accredited coach and cracking bloke to boot. Someone to keep tabs on throughout the 2019 season.
