Justin Dill (24) is an exciting prospect playing for Western Province alongside the likes of fellow CricX clients Neo Mlumbi and Givon Christian. He is making waves this summer, to include his maiden 10 wicket match haul (5-43, 5-69) against Northern Cape (Oct 2018).

A genuine pace bowling all-rounder, Dill moved to WP last summer (2017/18) following four seasons with Boland, with whom he made his debut across the three formats. He made his List A debut in December 2013 after a strong showing for South Africa Under-19s in the Quadrangular Under-19 Series (v Australia, India and Zimbabwe) a few months earlier, taking 8 wickets at 20.50.

A few months later (Feb-Mar 2014), he starred for the victorious South African side at the ICC Under-19 World Cup in Dubai, finishing second to Kagiso Rabada on their wicket charts with 14 scalps at 10.28. He took 2-29 in the final following his 4-40 to propel South African through the quarter-finals.

Between 2013 and 2017, Dill was also a stand-out for Stellenbosch University, playing in the Momentum National Club Championships and Red Bull Campus Cricket competitions. Unfortunately for Dill, a spate of injuries after his dominant 2014/15 first-class campaign for Boland (188 runs at 26.85 and 21 wickets at 25.76), hampered regular domestic cricket during the following two seasons (broken elbow then torn trapezium). However, he returned in 2017/18, taking 9 wickets at 26.44 and struck his third first-class fifty (61*) amongst a season average of 26.66. This summer, he continues to shine and has been injury free, without any niggles for almost 2 full years.

Given his recent success, Dill is eager to return to the UK in 2019, following a stint at Hymers College (Hull) and Yorkshire ECB Premier League club Appleby Frodingham in 2013 (33 wickets at 19.21 and 405 runs at 33.75). Dill, who is a CSA level two qualified coach, will be an outstanding signing for any club looking for a genuine pace bowling all-rounder who’s keen to progress and return to South Africa to push for Franchise honours.
