Roshan Lakmal is an accomplished all-rounder who has been a standout force since returning to Sri Lankan domestic cricket in 2022 after a decade-long break, much of which he spent playing in Australia. Rejoining with Panadura, he made an immediate impact, scoring 442 runs at 44.20 in his first season back, followed by 241 at 40.16 the next year, including a century. A quieter 2023/24 campaign gave way to a spectacular 2024/25 season with Nugegoda Sports and Welfare, where he piled up 599 runs at 85.57, featuring four centuries and a highest score of 201*, form that earned him a Sri Lankan Board contract.
While his recent teams have been stacked with spin options, limiting his bowling opportunities, Lakmal remains a high-quality left-arm spinner with a proven track record. In 39 first-class matches, he has claimed 49 wickets at 27.81, including three five-wicket hauls and a 10-wicket match, alongside 1,548 runs at 39.69 from 50 innings. His career began in 2009, and after three seasons in Sri Lanka, he moved to Australia, becoming a South East Cricket Association legend with Mackie Cricket Club, where he scored 2,178 runs at 32.51 and took 145 wickets at 20.37 over six seasons.
Lakmal’s overseas pedigree extends to the UK, where in the past two summers he has excelled for North Devon, amassing 2,693 runs at 69.05 and taking 87 wickets at 19.64 across the Devon and North Devon Leagues. With his blend of batting firepower, bowling skill, and vast international experience, he is now available for opportunities both down under and in the UK next summer.
