Georgia Atkinson

Georgia Atkinson is a dynamic all-rounder lighting up New Zealand’s domestic cricket scene with Central Districts Hinds. A standout performer in both List A (Hallyburton Johnston Shield) and T20 (Dream 11 Women’s Super Smash), Atkinson has already played nearly 150 matches despite her young age, showcasing her talent as a wrist-spinner and destructive batter.

Debuting for the Hinds in November 2017, Atkinson initially shone as a leg-spinner batting in the middle order. Recently, she’s thrived as an opener alongside White Ferns star Natalie Dodd. Their record-breaking 112-run T20 opening stand against Wellington in January 2023 saw Atkinson notch her maiden half-century (50), cementing her reputation as a fearless striker with unorthodox flair. Her List A bowling stats are equally impressive, with 49 wickets at an average of 25.83 and a tight economy rate of 4.79.

Atkinson’s potential has long been evident. She was Central Districts’ MVP and top run-scorer at the National U18 tournament and represented New Zealand’s Development side in 2019. Hinds coach Jeet Vachharajani praises her as “one of the most exciting players” in the team, highlighting her wrist-spin wizardry and ability to deliver under pressure, like her standout performance at the death in a rain-affected HBJ match.

Off the field, Atkinson’s passion for cricket extends to coaching. Holding a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise degree, she’s an accredited NZC Level 1 coach and is working toward her Level 2, eager to develop her game and mentor others in pursuit of a White Ferns call-up.

Atkinson’s talent has also shone overseas. In 2023, she played for Rush Cricket Club in Ireland, and in 2024-25, she starred for Cheltenham Cricket Club in England’s West of England Women’s Premier League. Her first stint yielded 605 runs at 35.59 and 13 wickets at 22.38, followed by an explosive return with 590 runs at 65.56 and 15 wickets at 23.87. Now, Atkinson is hungry to elevate her game further, seeking top-tier opportunities in the UK for 2026.
