Shermon Lewis is an accomplished quick who has been a stand-out performer on the West Indian domestic circuit, since his first-class debut in March 2017.
After a slow start to his Windward Islands career, Lewis started to make an impression during his second WICB Professional Cricket League Regional 4-Day Tournament in 2017/18. He captured 30 wickets at 21.66 to finish amongst the leading wicket-takers (third best seamer).
His season tally included his maiden five-for (5-64) v Trinidad & Tobago, and he was fast-tracked to represent the Windies A side against the touring Indian A and Surrey sides in July 2018.
It’s fair to say his exploits in the opening match against India, when taking 8 wickets, fast-tracked his career further with immediate inclusion to the Windies Test squad to play India in October (2-93, including Virat Kohli), followed by a Test against Bangladesh the following month (1-69).
These proved to me Lewis’ only Tests for the Windies, albeit he was picked for a solitary ODI against the Netherlands in June 2022.
Since his exclusion, Lewis has continued to shine on both the domestic scene and for the Windies A side. 11 wickets at 18.45 in his limited first-class outings in 2022/23, followed by 7 wickets at 22.42 in the List A competition last summer.
Towards the end of the 2023 calendar year, Lewis toured South Africa with the Windies A side. He was a key performer taking the top order wickets of skipper Neil Brand, Durham sensation David Bedingham (twice each) and Khaya Zondo in their 2-match series.
Now pushing 30, whilst Lewis still harbours ambitions to return to the full Windies fold, he has targeted global opportunities moving forward. He also benefits from access to accommodation in the UK in the London area (UB5 6AZ), but is open to clubs from all over the country.
With an impressive domestic record, particularly in red ball cricket (116 wickets at 27.24), Lewis will be keen to impress in the UK this summer having signed with Copdock & Old Ipswichian for their 2025 East Anglian Premier League campaign.
