Harindu Jayasekara is an exciting young talent who has already made his mark in Sri Lankan domestic cricket and age-group internationals. A product of the renowned St. Thomas' College in Matara, Harindu rose through the ranks with standout performances at school and age-group level, earning a call-up to the Sri Lanka U19 squad in October 2021. He featured as an opener in two 50-over matches against Bangladesh, sharing the dressing room with future internationals like Shevon Daniel and Matheesha Pathirana.
Harindu’s strong run with the Chilaw Marians U23s in the Emerging Three Day Tournament (Feb 2022) paved the way for his senior debut later that year. He quickly progressed across formats—breaking into Chilaw's T20 side for the Major Clubs T20 Tournament in June, featuring in the Limited Overs competition in July, and earning his red-ball debut in the SLC Major League Tournament by September.
Though his first-class opportunities have been limited since, Harindu has continued to impress—most notably in Sri Lanka’s domestic T20 competition in 2023 and during his time playing in the UK.
In 2024, he joined Cowdrey’s 2nd XI in the Kent League, where he produced a stellar season: scoring 901 runs at 47.42 and taking 18 wickets at 22.06. His standout efforts included a brilliant 173 with the bat and astonishing figures of 7/6 with the ball. In 2025, he stepped up to represent Frocester in the West of England Premier League (Gloucestershire Division), enjoying another prolific summer—this time averaging over 55 with multiple centuries and valuable contributions with the ball.
Looking ahead to 2026, Harindu is keen to return to the UK for another full season. A dynamic batter who can contribute with the ball, he’s a player we recommend with confidence.
Note: Harindu remains eligible to play as an overseas player in UK club cricket until 23 September 2025, under the ECB's first-class match criteria.
