Nishan Peiris

Nishan Peiris is a highly skilled off-spinner widely regarded as one of Sri Lanka's finest talents in the domestic circuit. Long considered the best off-spinner in the country, Nishan earned well-deserved international recognition when he made his Test debut against New Zealand in September 2024. He announced himself with an impressive match performance, taking 3/33 in the first innings and an outstanding 6/170 in the second, helping Sri Lanka secure a commanding innings and 154-run victory. His six-wicket haul featured key scalps including Kane Williamson, Tom Latham, Rachin Ravindra, Tom Blundell, Glenn Phillips, and Mitchell Santner—highlighting his ability to perform at the highest level under pressure. He has since added two further Test caps, most recently against Australia in February 2025, taking 12 wickets in three Tests to date at an average of 43.33.

Nishan boasts an excellent professional record with first-class best bowling figures of 8/94, a List A best of 5/16, and a T20 best of 4/3. His rise to international cricket was no surprise given his consistent domestic performances. He has also proven himself overseas, having starred for Newcastle & Hartshill Cricket Club in the competitive North Staffs South Cheshire League. Joining mid-season in June 2022 as a late replacement, Nishan quickly became a revelation, taking 44 wickets at an astonishing average of 9.61 from just 159.2 overs despite a shortened campaign. Returning the following year, visa delays limited him to a seven-match season, but his impact remained significant: he took 14 wickets at an outstanding average of 4.50, while also averaging 57.00 with the bat.

For the 2026 season, Nishan represented Euxton Cricket Club and enjoyed an outstanding campaign, finishing with 80 wickets at an average of 13.51 (best bowling of 5/18) and 756 runs at 28.00 with the bat, including a career-best score of 79 and five half-centuries — cementing his reputation as one of the best spin-bowling all-round options on the market.

Beyond his on-field prowess, Nishan is celebrated off the field as a popular and dedicated team member. Fully embracing club life, he earned glowing recommendations for his character and professionalism. At club level, he also contributes valuable runs from the middle order, making him a genuine all-rounder in those conditions.
