Shalin De Mel

Shalin De Mel is an emerging all-round talent currently playing professionally for Colts Cricket Club in Sri Lanka. An elegant left-handed batter and skillful seam bowler, Shalin has impressed at every level—from school cricket through to club competitions—earning his first-class debut in August 2022. He made an immediate impact with a brisk 75 off 69 balls, opening against a strong Galle attack. Now averaging in the 30s at first-class level, many experts expect his numbers to continue improving as he matures. He is currently captained by Sri Lanka international Dhananjaya Lakshan.

A natural leader with a history of captaincy through his junior and amateur career, Shalin is known for his strong work ethic, positive attitude, and dedication to developing all aspects of his game. His agility and strength also make him a valuable presence in the field.

During his maiden UK season, Shalin has excelled with the bat, scoring 677 runs at an impressive average of 52.08, including three centuries and a high score of 149 across 14 innings. With the ball, he has contributed 20 wickets at a solid average of 17.45, with best figures of 4-28.
