Jessie Hollard is an explosive opening batter and wicketkeeper who currently captains both Taranaki and Central Districts A — and she's now taken the step up that pathway was building towards, earning a maiden Central Hinds contract for the 2026/27 season.
The call came through from Hinds head coach Deepak Joon just after Jessie had finished a training session with Bishop's Stortford, where she's been playing through the UK summer. Central Districts High Performance Manager Dave Meiring described her as a dynamic top-order player who can transfer her skills across both formats, and a valuable back-up keeping option for the Hinds — reward for two strong seasons with CD A, where she's now made 26 appearances and captained the side.
Jessie was a key member of the Central Districts Under-19 side across three national tournaments, winning the title in her final year and routinely finishing among the top run-scorers. She has also attended the New Zealand Under-19 camp and was selected for the New Zealand Development XI in 2022, though injury prevented her from taking the field.
Last season, Jessie was named Taranaki Batter of the Year after scoring 267 runs across 11 matches at an average of 33.38. At the Central Districts T20 tournament, she amassed 173 runs in five games, averaging 34.6 with an impressive strike rate of 142.
A natural leader, she currently captains both Central Districts A and Taranaki, and previously led Central Districts at Under-19 level. She is also an emerging coach, having gained extensive practical experience coaching New Plymouth Girls' High School and the Taranaki Under-18s in recent seasons. She's based in New Plymouth and represents Stratford Cricket Club at home.
Hollard is currently enjoying an excellent season in the UK, playing for Bishop's Stortford in the Essex Women's Premier League. She has racked up 977 runs at 40.71, including a century and seven fifties, with a top score of 123* — form that's carried her straight into a maiden professional contract back home.
Having now broken into the Central Hinds setup, Hollard's sights are firmly set on pushing for further honours and continuing to develop as a genuine multi-format threat with both bat and gloves. She'll be accompanied on her cricket journey by her fiancé Damien, a right-handed middle-order batter and slow left-arm orthodox spinner who is himself keen to play men's cricket.
