Charlie Newton is an exciting and ambitious young batting all-rounder from Yorkshire, England, who has already established himself as a key member of Lascelles Hall Cricket Club's First XI in the Huddersfield Cricket League Championship.
Despite being just 18 years of age, Charlie has demonstrated his ability to play an important role with either skillset. A top-order batter, he prides himself on occupying the crease, building an innings and providing a platform from which those around him can play.
With the ball, Charlie's left-arm spin provides a valuable point of difference to any bowling attack. He has already surpassed the impressive milestone of 50 First XI wickets for Lascelles Hall at an outstanding average of just 15.67, an excellent achievement for a spinner of his age competing regularly in senior cricket.
His ability to contribute across both disciplines has seen Charlie become an increasingly important member of the Lascelles Hall First XI, while the experience of playing senior cricket from a young age has provided an excellent foundation for his continued development.
Highly motivated and eager to experience cricket in different conditions, Charlie is now seeking his first opportunity in the Southern Hemisphere. He hopes to use an overseas season to further develop his game, gain valuable life experience and fully immerse himself in his chosen club's culture both on and off the field.
