Waheeda Akhter is a Pakistani right-arm medium-fast bowler with a long and varied representative career, spanning more than a decade of domestic and international cricket. Born in Chiniot, Punjab, she broke into domestic cricket with Faisalabad Women in 2012/13, before going on to represent Omar Associates Women, Saif Sports Saga Women, Lahore Women, and most recently Rawalpindi Women. Across a substantial List A and T20 domestic career, she has taken 61 wickets at 23.08 in List A cricket and a further 47 wickets at 23.59 in T20s, underlining her value as a genuine wicket-taking seamer at domestic level.
Her representative honours began early, with selection for the Pakistan A Women's tour of Sri Lanka in November 2015. She went on to earn full international recognition with Pakistan Women, making her ODI debut on 14 September 2023 against South Africa in Karachi, before adding her T20I debut a matter of weeks later, on 29 October 2023 against Bangladesh in Chattogram.
Later that year, Akhter was part of the Pakistan squad that made history in New Zealand, winning the first T20I of the series in Dunedin by 7 wickets — Pakistan's first-ever T20I victory over New Zealand Women, after eight previous defeats — and going on to claim the series 2-1. She has since represented Pakistan on tours of England in 2024 and Ireland in 2025, taking the wicket of Ireland captain Gaby Lewis during the 2025 series in Dublin. Most recently, she has been a regular fixture in Pakistan's T20I attack through 2026, including a series against Sri Lanka in Dambulla in which she ranked among the leading wicket-takers in the fixture's history between the two sides, and was named in Pakistan's squad for the Women's Asia Cup in August 2026.
To date, she has played 9 WT20Is and 1 WODI for Pakistan, and continues to be a key member of the squad's bowling attack.
